Board of Governors, Group Management and departments

Danmarks Nationalbank’s Board of Governors is the bank's top management and consists of three members. As ‘royally appointed’ governor, Christian Kettel Thomsen is the Chairman of the Board of Governors. The other two members are Signe Krogstrup and Ulrik Nødgaard.

Board of Governors

The three governors are responsible for the overall management of Danmarks Nationalbank.

The Board of Governors has sole responsibility for shaping and adjusting monetary policy, independent of the Board of Directors and the Committee of Directors.

The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Christian Kettel Thomsen, is a ‘royally appointed’ Governor of Danmarks Nationalbank – in practice appointed by the government to head the Board of Governors.

The other two members, Signe Krogstrup and Ulrik Nødgaard, are appointed by Danmarks Nationalbank's Board of Directors.

Under the Danmarks Nationalbank Act, Governors must retire by the end of the month in which they turn 70 years of age.

See the list of former Governors.

Group Management

The bank's Group Management consists of the Board of Governors and the heads of the bank's seven departments. The bank's Group Management makes decisions on the bank's priorities, organisational matters, strategy and policies, including risk and personnel policies.
