Increased Interest Rate on Homeowners’ Mortgage Debt
Danish homeowners’ interest rate including administration rate landed at 3.01 per cent in July 2023. The average interest rate including administration rate on the mortgage debt is thereby almost doubled since the record low level in 2021. The increase in July comes in the wake of refinancings of a substantial part of the mortgage debt with variable rate. In total almost a sixth of the homeowners’ debt has received a new and higher interest rate in July 2023. Besides the refinancings the homeowners took up kr. 17 billion in new debt in July 2023 at an average interest rate including administration rate of 5.46 per cent, which also contributes some to the increase in the average interest rate.
