Insurance and pension
Statistics period: August 2023

More than half of the pension sectors investments are equities

The equity investments of insurance companies and pension funds – both listed and unlisted – now constitute just over 51 per cent of their total investments, while they made up 42 per cent at the beginning of 2018. The increase is due to, among other things, a higher return on equities than bonds in the period and increased investments in equities, because the insurance and pension funds offer market rate products to a higher degree. The market rate products have different degrees of risk. Overall, they have a larger share of equities compared to average rate products, which are basically invested with lower risk.
