Private investors’ securities investments are back on top
In 2023, private investors' discretionary investments in securities increased by kr. 144 billion, bringing the investments close to the peak observed in December 2021. The majority of the increase is attributed to capital gains of kr. 119 billion, with almost half coming from Novo Nordisk B-shares, constituting 16 pct. of the portfolio at the end of 2023. In addition to capital gains, private investors increased their securities holdings with a relatively modest purchase of kr. 25 billion. Mortgage bonds and American stocks were particularly high on investors' shopping lists, while they sold Danish stocks and investment funds.
