Most new mortgage bonds with an interest rate of 4 per cent
In 2024, new issuance of fixed-rate 30-year mortgage bonds had primarily had an interest rate of 4 per cent, and the value of these bonds has increased by kr. 66 billion. Last year, market rates were higher, and mortgage bonds were primarily issued with an interest rate of 5 per cent. At the same time bonds with lower rates were redeemed, so the total outstanding amount of 30-year fixed mortgage bonds has been approximately unchanged since the beginning of 2023. Fixed rate mortgage bonds make up more than one third of all mortgage bonds and finance mortgage loans for both households and corporations. However, they are more widespread among households, where over 40 per cent have fixed rate mortgage loans.
