In 2019, Danmarks Nationalbank made a new call for tenders concerning the external production of coins. The existing four-year agreement with Mint of Finland is due to expire in May 2020, and Danmarks Nationalbank has therefore chosen to make a new call for tenders for the production of coins via an EU open procedure. The call for tenders was announced in mid-May 2019.
Following the tender process, Mint of Finland has been chosen as the supplier of Danish coins from 2021. The agreement has been concluded as a framework agreement for a four-year period.
The choice of Mint of Finland is based on their tender being the most advantageous tender overall. In addition to the economical aspect, the award criteria included quality, security and CSR.
