The Stability and Growth Pact – Status in 2001
The article presents the status of the Stability and Growth Pact in practice with focus on the development in 2001. The central element of the Stability and Growth Pact is that the government budgets of the EU member states must be close to balance or in surplus. All EU member states comply with this objective in the medium term, but not in the short term
