Japan is in the throes of economic crisis. The short-term interest rate is at zero, prices are falling, the government debt is high and increasing and the banking sector is weak. In recent years, various proposals have been submitted to pull Japan out of the crisis. Some of the proposals relating to monetary policy are examined.
